Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions is an in­de­pen­dent de­sign house and li­cen­sor of LTE-IP and sys­tem so­lu­tions. Serv­ing the semi­con­duc­tors and telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions in­dus­tries, Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions strives to be­come the lead­ing provider for em­bed­ded modem tech­nol­o­gy and sys­tem so­lu­tions sup­port­ing the next gen­er­a­tion mo­bile stan­dard LTE (Long Term Evo­lu­tion). Cus­tomers will ben­e­fit from the ad­van­tage of an easy to in­te­grate and cost ef­fi­cient so­lu­tion com­bined with op­ti­mized per­for­mance, size and pow­er con­sump­tion.

Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions stands for a decade of ex­pe­ri­ence in the mo­bile busi­ness. The core com­pe­ten­cies in­clude mo­bile broad­band modem de­sign, OFDM based sys­tem de­vel­op­ment, and low pow­er semi­con­duc­tors de­sign. The team con­sists of high­ly qual­i­fied spe­cial­ists for mo­bile com­mu­ni­ca­tions – many of them PhD's. The pool of ex­pe­ri­ence in­cludes sys­tem know-how that ranges from the an­ten­na up to the ap­pli­ca­tion (e.g. LTE, WLAN, Blue­tooth, TVoM, UWB or WiMAX).

Roots

His­to­ry

Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions has its roots in the Voda­fone Chair of the Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­si­ty Dres­den, which is led by Prof. Dr. Ger­hard Fet­tweis. Ten years ago the first star­tup was spun-off out of it – the name was Sys­te­mon­ic AG. The com­pa­ny was start­ed in 1999 with 12 em­ploy­ees and grew to more than 100 em­ploy­ees in three lo­ca­tions in Ger­many and in the Unit­ed States with­in just three years. To­day, former Sys­te­mon­ic em­ploy­ees form the core team of Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions.

 

Name

What's in the name?

The name "Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions" is derived from the com­mon name of the "Loschwitz Bridge" in Dres­den, a can­tilever truss bridge over the river El­be. With an un­sup­port­ed span of 140 m, the bridge is a mas­ter­piece of engi­neer­ing from the 19th cen­tu­ry, con­sid­ered a tech­no­log­i­cal mar­vel (hence: "Won­der") by con­tem­po­raries. Its col­or is blue which led to the com­mon name Blue Won­der. Le­gend has it that the bridge was orig­i­nal­ly paint­ed in green, but due to some en­vi­ron­men­tal in­flu­ence the col­or turned to blue. The "Blue Won­der" bridge is a fa­mous and pop­u­lar sym­bol of the ci­ty and al­so a sym­bol for in­no­va­tion, engi­neer­ing ex­per­tise and tech­ni­cal pro­gress. Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions will car­ry the­se val­ues in­to the 21st cen­tu­ry.
